Welcome to the Transition Leadership Academy (TLA)

The Transition Leadership Academy offers assistance and guidance to transition practitioners and administrators as they set goals and develop plans to improve outcomes for students with disabilities in their secondary schools. Five federal indicators will be addressed with goals to:

  • Increase graduation rates (Indicator 1);
  • Decrease dropout rates (Indicator 2);
  • Assure that transition Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) include coordinated, measurable goals and transition services (Indicator 13); and
  • Increase percentage of students who have been competitively employed and/or in postsecondary school within one year of leaving high school (Indicator 14).


  • April 16, 2014: Team registration is due.
  • March 31 - April 30, 2014: Team Registration and Edit. Please note: all team edits must be completed by April 30, 2014. Teams will NOT be able to edit after this date.
  • May 14, 2014: Please upload Part 1 of each team's plan.
  • June 8-10, 2014: Attend the Academy!
